Etsy goodness: Reusable Java Jackets

Pedro is a little disgruntled.

But you won’t be if you pick up one of these nifty Java Jackets from Kasanika’s Etsy shop. These wicked little hand-knit wool coffee sleeves are reusable, 100% washable, and will save paper every time you don’t take a paper coffee sleeve or a second coffee cup to protect your hands from your too-hot java.

Made in a smoke-free but black-lab-friendly environment in Vancouver, these whimsical little guys come in various colours and patterns to suit any fancy. And with prices ranging from $9 to $11, or in other words the price of about two triple venti vanilla lattes, it’s definitely in the budget.

Not to diss Etsy (which I am a big fan of) or dismiss the usefulness of the Java Jackets, but re: deleted comment, I was musing about the eco-friendliness of disposable coffee cups. While they are pretty cute, handy, reusable and all the more noble if your coffee is from Bridgehead, using the jackets is kind of like driving a Hummer in the carpooling lane. There are tons of great re-usable mugs out there, many pretty cool looking ones…

@janice – you’re totally right. A reusable cup is always better. But when you don’t have one with you.. this is a great way to reduce waste. And you know, they look so awesome. Thanks for your comment!
