Mind Our Dust

There are exciting things afoot at ecochick! As a result, there’s gonna be some renos going on around here today. VOC free paints, sustainable bamboo floors, recycled fabrics in the throw cushions, you name it. Please bear with me while I get a few things done – but trust me, you will be so excited when you see what’s happening…

Anna Sova Luxury Organics

Are you looking for organic cotton textiles for your home, but you’re also looking for the finer things in life?

Then you should look at Anna Sova Luxury Organics, where you will find the most gorgeous, thick, amazingly decadent textiles but all made with organic cotton and ethical practices. That means no toxic or petrochemical pesticides. No dioxin bleaches or optical whiteners. No heavy metal dyes. No formaldehyde or silicone sizing; made with fair labor practices. Look at these gorgeous sheets: 460 thread count. Imagine that.

They’ve got a wide range of bedding options from sheets to duvet covers to bedskirts and more. They also carry towels, aromatherapy bath and body products and lots more. They’re available in Canada at one store so far, but you can also buy online. Sweet.

Sublet Clothing Fall Collection is available!

Oh, so pretty. Sublet Clothing has released its fall collection, and you’ll want to check it out. Lovely, flowy, soft clothes in rich fall colours like the Bianca dress at left, made from a combination of mostly Bamboo and Organic Cotton with a smidge of spandex thrown in to help your garment keep its shape (yeah, spandex itself isn’t so eco since it’s a synthetic fiber, but it’s in small quantities. And if it helps your garment last longer then that actually is beneficial so it works for me). You can see the entire fall line here.

Sublet clothing is available at several online stores and at one shop in Canada located in Wolfville, Nova Scotia. Or you can just buy from their online store and have it shipped. Nice!

Are you looking for an eco-friendly online vendor that is not only stylish, but soothing on the eyes? Look no further than Toronto’s GreenGirls.ca. Maybe it’s how tired I am today, but looking at the pretty, soothing graphics on the GreenGirls site has vastly improved my mood. And so has their merchandise. GreenGirls prides itself on bringing you the nicest Canadian-made eco-friendly clothing and accessories they can find. From neat refunkified clothing like this cowl shrug from Paper People clothing to the neat Small Favourite bag made out of recycled bike inner tubes by Flat Bags, Green Girls is finding and selling the coolest stuff known to the Canadian marketplace. Check out their online store and see if there’s something you like!

How to reuse plastic bags – from Etsy!

Did you know that Etsy, the all-things-handmade-heaven, has a great YouTube channel? And that on that great YouTube Channel, they have great How-Tos?

This How-To video is brilliant. How to take average everyday plastic bags and turn them into a robust thick plastic to use in craft projects. Awesome! What a great way to keep these little nasties out of the landfill and create something robust and reusable. Check it out…

Believe Cosmetics

I love just googling for new eco shops and finding them in the blink of an eye. Today a quick search for “eco makeup Canada” found me Believe Cosmetics.

With products from Filthy Farm Girl, Shoo Foo, Trevarno, Visionary Soap Company and Eco Nvey, there’s a wide range of items that will suit everyone. She sells soaps, body washes and creams, linens and towels – everything you need to pamper yourself. She also donates 10% of all profits to various charities, so not only is your purchase eco-friendly, it also helps give back. Nice! I especially love the makeup section – it’s like going to a cosmetics counter with all ecofriendly products. The fun, sans the guilt.

And hey – there’s even a sale section. Sweet!
